Sterling on the Lake invites visitors and residents to the third annual Harvest Balloon Festival on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, from 3 to 8 p.m. at the community’s Village Green, 7005 Lake Sterling Blvd., in Flowery Branch, Ga. The fall fun heats up with this seasonal festival that includes balloon rides and a variety of family-friendly activities. Attendees can soar above the community on tethered balloon rides and enjoy an evening balloon glow. Other festivities will include pumpkin carving and painting, hay rides, games, face painting, live music and treats from food vendors, carnival stands and a bake sale. Proceeds will be donated to Challenged Child and Friends, a local non-profit for children with disabilities, and the Hall County Animal Shelter. Visitors can meet and adopt a dog at the shelter’s pet adoption tent as well as participate in the blood drive hosted by the American Red Cross. Spring for Art at Sterling on the Lake’s ‘Arts Fest,’ April 28
 
Sterling on the Lake is bringing art to the park for its first-ever “Arts Fest” on April 28.  Held from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. at Sterling’s Village Center Park, the free fine arts festival celebrating art, music and food, will feature a juried artist competition, art exhibits and demonstrations, model home gallery and tours, live jazz and blues performances, wine tasting, culinary delights and more. 
 
From photography and glass mosaics to handmade jewelry and chainsaw art, the festival will showcase a variety of artwork for the whole family to enjoy by local artists such as Cheryl Hardin, Gallerie 110, and Bella Folk Art. Plus, children can create their own masterpieces with sidewalk chalk, spin art and other fun festival activities. 'SONGS 4 SUMMER' CONCERT SERIES AT STERLING ON THE LAKE

April 2010 - Sterling on the Lake presents the second annual "Songs 4 Summer" Concert Series this June at Sterling on the Lake's Village Green, 7005 Lake Sterling Blvd., in Flowery Branch, Ga.

 

Every Saturday in June, from 7-10 p.m., gather friends and family for live music, good eats and exciting prizes.

 

On June 5, 80'Z Enuff will kick off the series with '80s tunes. The Entertainers will bring oldies and beach music to the Village Green on June 12, while the Shane O'Dazier will play country on June 19.

 

The series ends June 26 with top '40s to Motown music with the Reality Show Band. Concerts are free and open to the public.

Touchstone's New Floor Plans Built to Sell

March 2010 - FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga., March 19, 2010 - With the housing market finally turning a corner, thanks in large part to current tax incentives, builders are seeking inventive ways to attract home buyers.

To date, Touchstone has built two of the Washington plans, with both homes going under contract before the homes were completed. "We knew right away that it was a desirable plan," he adds.

Scottish Company Picks Gainesville for North American HQ

Scotland-based Gas Measurement Instruments Ltd. (GMI) has picked greater Gainesville, Ga., to be its North American headquarters and sales hub, the company and Hall County officials said Tuesday.

 

The manufacturer and distributor of gas measuring equipment plans to open its North American hub in the Interstate Ridge Business Park in Gainesville in March.

 

"Our five-year strategy is built around aggressive growth," GMI Chief Financial Officer David Hunter said in a statement. "We want to make GMI one of the world’s leading providers of detection equipment to the gas distribution and shipping market. To achieve this, we will be opening new geographic markets, developing innovative and cutting-edge technology and further developing the skills of our employees.”

 

GMI was founded in Renfrewshire, Scotland in 1947. It designs, makes and markets gas detectors for the chemical, oil and gas, defense and logistics industries. According to the news release, GMI embarked in 2009 on a plan to triple its global sales by 2014, and the United States is the company’s largest export market.

 

France Clouatre, who heads GMI in the U.S., said the firm picked Hall County for its accessibility to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the world’s busiest, and its quality of life and “business-friendly environment.

 

“This region is a location that will allow us to grow and meet our goals and objectives,” Clouatre said.

New Tax Credit Program Doubles the Savings, Up to $16,000

February 2010 - FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga., Feb. 15, 2010 - Sterling on the Lake, the award-winning residential community in Flowery Branch, Ga., has announced a new Tax Credit Program that will double the savings currently being offered by the U.S. Government.

 

From now until March 31, 2010, Sterling on the Lake and its participating builders are matching any tax credit for which a homebuyer qualifies. For first-time homebuyers who qualify for an $8,000 tax credit, they will receive an additional $8,000 credit from Sterling on the Lake. A move-up buyer receiving a $6,500 tax credit will receive an additional $6,500 credit. This means that potential homebuyers can now receive up to a $16,000 total credit when buying a new home.

 

In addition, for any new home buyer who does not qualify for one of the government's current tax credits, Sterling on the Lake is still offering a credit of $6,500 for any new home purchase made before March 31, 2010.
