Huge Year for LakePoint Sporting Community & Town Center - Over 20,000 New Jobs Expected - Close to Seven Hills in Paulding County

Exciting news for Paulding County, Bartow and the areas surrounding it as LakePoint Sporting Community & Town Center is slated to continue construction and is slated to open fully in 2015.

From Hometown Headlines:  LakePoint Sporting Community & Town Center was announced in December 2010.  The project itself will be twice the size of the ESPN complex near Orlando where the Atlanta Braves train each spring. Once in full swing, LakePoint is expected to draw six million visitors annually, creating one million hotel room nights each year. At peak, look for up to 20,000 new jobs in Bartow and surrounding counties. In addition to the targeted athletics (student athletes ages 8 to 18 and their families), plans call for development of five million square feet of commercial projects surrounding the sports facilities.

Update one: The first part of the 1,400-acre campus to open, Terminus Wake Park, is slated to begin season two on or about April 1 with its cable-based wake boarding. The first phase opened last fall and the rest of the complex is coming together. You can track the park’s program at Terminus Wake Park. 

Update two: On Feb. 26, LakePoint partners Judy Sparks and Neal Freeman were interviewed by David Branch on Atlanta’s NewsTalk 1160 AM about the progress of the LakePoint.  Some caveats: Branch’ have ties with Site Selection Group , which helped with some initial parts of the project and has a small ownership stake in LakePoint. The Pickle-ball® craze is spreading across the country from East to West and North to South.  Why is this outdoor sport with such an unusual name becoming so popular?

Pickle-ball® was created with one thing in mind: fun. It was designed to be easy to learn and play whether you’re five, eighty-five or somewhere in between. Pickle-ball® is traditionally played on a badminton-sized court with special Pickle-ball® paddles, made of wood or high-tech aerospace materials. The ball used is similar to a wiffle ball, but slightly smaller.
