Jack Art Gallery presents “fusion” – proceeds benefit Kate’s Club
ATLANTA – July 22, 2010 – Studioplex, the live/work community in Atlanta’s historic Old Fourth Ward, will host its next ‘Fourth Fridays’ monthly Art Walk (
www.Studioplexlofts.com) on Friday, July 23 from 6-9 p.m. These monthly Art Walks at Studioplex are free and open to the public. Highlights include:
Jack Art Gallery (
www.JackArtGallery.com) will present “fusion”, an exhibit curated by John Brown and featuring the work of 12 artists: Jackie Berkley; J. Hillman Brown; Mark Rixon Cerny; Gina Cochran; Seth Conley; Kathryn Fortson; Toni Dranes Hooper; Christina Long; Karen Walker Mullins; Jade Reynolds; Jennifer Utterback; and Ron York. A portion of the proceeds from this exhibition will support Kate’s Club, a non-profit organization that empowers children and teens facing life after the death of a parent or sibling. Craig Henderson aka Jassartis (
www.jassart.com), a native of Brooklyn, NY and now living in Atlanta, is dedicated to using his works of art as an expression of the imagination without limits. He is, at heart, a nonconformist whose independent approach to the creative process fosters his unique brand of art. He will present a selection of his work during the Art Walk;
Mixed-media artist Laura Wellem (
www.LauraWellem.com) makes art out of everyday items and ‘an overflowing recycling bin’.
Shellton LaBron Tremble (
www.labronartistic.com) is a self-taught artist. The natural world and surreal imagery, colors, forms and beauty captivate him. “I believe that any object or subject can be applied to a surface and used to convey thoughts and imagination. I strongly believe in all types of mediums and experimentation is one of my key strengths”;
Jewelry designer Tracey Tirrell (
www.TraceyTirrell.com) will present her collection of hand made necklaces, earrings and accessories;
Pop artist Chris Hamer (
www.urbnpop.com) will present a selection from his vast portfolio of work which includes paintings using mixed media – found objects, news print, magazines and comic books;
Lorikay Stone of Lorikay Photography (
www.LorikayPhotography.com) will show her work, featuring black and white and colorful abstract art work in the Law Offices of Mathew T. McNally (Loft 153);
Drea James (
www.dreajames.com) features spotlight stealing, one-of-a-kind jewelry by local designer Jenn Green, which includes vintage, bridal and commissions for that special outfit or occasion;
Angie Wehunt of Angie’s Folk HeARTs (
www.AngiesFolkhearts.com) invites guests to come and experience the love with which she pours into each painting. Her mixed media works of hearts and flowers are expressed in colorful abstracts and minimalist black and whites;
Sculptor Lisa Mathews (
www.ArtistLM.com) and her collection of polymer clay work which focuses on Africa and African American culture (Loft #237).
Janke Studios (
www.jankestudios.com), Atlanta’s premier glassblowing studio, will present its collection of unique hand blown glass objects (Studio G-9);
Other participating artists include: Ruksana Hussain (world crafts); Karen Styles (photography); Catherine Liscum (jewelry); Arwen Fine (jewelry); Beverly Molander (painting); Afi Green (tiles); and Patty Sledge (jewelry).
A number of other galleries and lofts will be open during the ‘Fourth Fridays’ Art Walk.
Art lovers and collectors are invited to enjoy a complimentary glass of wine, discover exciting new artists in the heart of Atlanta and listen to the music of soloist Darin Seldes. The next Art Walk at Studioplex will take place on Friday, August 27, 6-9 pm.
