Join HomeAid Atlanta’s 17th Annual Essentials Drive

Help homeless babies and their moms this Mother’s Day.

Essentials Drive DatesHomeAid Atlanta’s 17th Annual Essentials Drive kicks off on April 30 and runs through May 8 in honor of Mother’s Day. The Essentials Drive is a metro Atlanta drive to collect “essentials” such as diapers, baby wipes, baby food and formula for homeless infants and toddlers.  On any night, an estimated 7,500 metro Atlanta residents are homeless, with almost 50% percent them being women and children.  HomeAid Atlanta first launched the Essentials Drive in 2002 in an effort to provide aid to this most vulnerable homeless population. Thanks to community support, the Essentials Drive has collected more than one million essential baby items since 2002, assisting countless babies and moms.

Just before Mother’s Day, Atlanta-based UPS will partner with HomeAid Atlanta for the twelfth year by assisting with delivery of donated items.  All donations go to local nonprofit organizations that provide housing and supportive services to homeless infants, toddlers, and their families.  Several of these organizations operate in HomeAid-built facilities.

Paran Homes Welcomes Spring 2018 With New Pre-Construction Culture

Southeast Homebuilder Believes that Communication is the Key to Its Success for the Remainder of 2018 and Beyond

Paranhomes_extends_living_spaces_outdoors_with_spacious_decks_for_entertaining_and_relaxing_-_paran_homesDuluth, Ga, April 18, 2018 –  Benjamin Franklin perhaps said it best… “By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.”  With eyes firmly set on success, Metro Atlanta-based regional home builder – Paran Homes – is instituting a culture that is geared toward preparation and pre-planning… even if that means adding an extra step. In an industry filled with production builders that hit the ground running on multiple projects with the assumption that their sub-contractors know what they’re doing, Paran Homes is taking a little inspiration from the season associated with transformation and growth. As Spring 2018 continues to take shape all around the world, a new pre-construction culture will take shape at Paran Homes.

“When we launch a new community or unveil a new floor plan, the leadership team at Paran Homes always has a clear vision of what that neighborhood or home will look like upon completion and the ambiance it will convey for years to come,” said Josh Paterson, VP of Construction for Paran Homes. “We understand the steps needed to make that vision a reality. By instituting a pre-construction culture and bringing more players into the fold prior to construction, we’ll be ensuring that everyone is on board with that vision, have a clearer understanding of any obstacles to that vision, and possibly share ideas that could make that vision even better. Our Sales and Construction team members then outline the entire process to our buyers. They also review specific home plans for their lot, as well as all personalized design center selections in order to eliminate any errors, ultimately giving our home buyers peace of mind.”

Other advantages to pre-construction meetings at Paran Homes include:

  • Providing a forum for team members to ask any questions they may have about the new community or floor plan
  • Encouraging the team to set performance goals and consider best methods to achieve those goals
  • Setting a timeline and holding all parties accountable for adhering to that timeline
  • Outlining any required city, county and state forms and documents
  • Establishing a clear, more formal starting point
  • Best of all, minimizing the frequency of “mistakes” due to miscommunication and – as a result – keeping construction costs in line

Paterson adds, “We’re convinced that the incorporation of pre-construction meetings to our process is not just the right thing to do for our company, it’s also the right thing to do for our prospective home owners. In the end, the results will be a stronger team, a streamlined construction process and – ultimately – a collection of imaginative new home communities filled with beautifully crafted, quality constructed houses by Paran Homes.”

HomeAid Care Day at Solomon's Temple

HomeAid holds first Care Day of 2018 in southwest Atlanta

Rsz_homeaid_volunteers_at_solomons_templeOn March 23, HomeAid Atlanta held its first Care Day of 2018 at Solomon’s Temple in southwest Atlanta.  HomeAid Care Days are “done in a day” workdays providing free-of-charge maintenance and repairs for nonprofit organizations serving people experiencing homelessness in Atlanta.  Solomon’s Temple provides housing to single women and women with children as they strive to rebuild their lives.

Volunteers from Engel & Völkers Buckhead Atlanta, Kennesaw State University National Association of Home Builders Student Chapter, and Georgia Gwinnett College worked hard to complete much needed landscaping and gardening tasks. The groups transformed the grounds by clearing and replanting several garden beds, and re-mulching the playground and picnic areas.  Soon the residents at Solomon’s Temple will have fresh tomatoes, peppers, herbs and more from their very own garden.  The workday generated a savings of approximately $3,000 for Solomon’s Temple, funds that will be used to help meet the immediate needs of the women and children they serve.  Engel & Völkers Buckhead Atlanta provided financial support for the project, and Ross Davies of Super-Sod provided expert knowledge and planning assistance.

This was HomeAid’s third Care Day with Solomon’s Temple since 2015.  Following this Care Day, Kecia Baker, Solomon’s Temple Director of Programs and Facilities remarked, “It truly takes a village to make the world go ‘round and HomeAid has been our village! We've accomplished so much with the help of HomeAid and their good volunteers’ hard work. We are so grateful!”

Solomon’s Temple Executive Director Patricia Smith added, “HomeAid Atlanta makes us happy! We always know that when Jean Hilyard (HomeAid Atlanta Director of Community Engagement) shows up, we will be taken care of! HomeAid volunteers are well prepped and enthusiastic about accomplishing the goal.”

HomeAid Atlanta, founded in 2001, is a nonprofit organization that builds new lives for homeless families and individuals through housing and community outreach. Paran Homes Raises the Curtain on Sweetwater Landing Model Home

Regional Homebuilder Debuts Professionally Decorated Model Home at Newest West Cobb Community

Rsz_the_kitchen_at_sweetwater_landings_new_model_home_by_paran_homes_lo_res_-_march_2018Duluth, Ga, March 30, 2018 – After witnessing highly favorable responses from homebuyers to its West Cobb communities at Thomason Park and Silver Springs Village in the City of Powder Springs, Paran Homes added a third community to the mix with Sweetwater Landing in late 2017. Now selling single-family, Craftsman-inspired homes priced from the mid $200,000’s, Sweetwater Landing has recently debuted its new model home to the public. Professionally merchandised by interior designer, Joy Kirkland of Innovative Interiors, the home showcases the three-story Piedmont floor plan – one of fifteen floor plans available at Sweetwater Landing.

“While Sweetwater Landing proves appealing to a wide variety of homebuyers, I used the ‘growing active family’ as my inspiration for the design of this community’s model home,” explained Kirkland. “The Piedmont floor plan is ideal for engaging family members, whether enjoying dinner in the large gourmet kitchen or playing games and watching movies together in the media room. I highlighted all of the secondary bedrooms with warm paint colors, creating a cozy space for children to relax and enjoy being home. Of course, my favorite space I’ve created for this home is the master bedroom. I wanted to keep the room soft and ethereal, making this a luxurious retreat for the homeowners. I love the classic pieces and scale of the room.”

In addition to serving as design inspiration for visitors, the model home features 6 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, game room, media room, spacious kitchen, sprawling owners’ suite and all the bells and whistles. Intended to give homebuyers a sense of what life could be like at Sweetwater Landing, the model home is just one example of more than a dozen available floor plans, which offer a blend of 1-to-3-story homes featuring 3-to-6-bedrooms, front or rear-entry garages and upscale interior finishes that include coffered ceilings, wainscoting, hardwood floors, gourmet kitchens and more.

“While our new, beautifully merchandised model home certainly enhances the sense of welcome and appeal at Sweetwater Landing, this community already offers its fair share of attraction for Atlanta homebuyers thanks to a great amenity package, low Cobb County taxes and a terrific location,” said Michael Rosenberg, President of Paran Homes. “Not only is the community located within walking distance of Powder Springs charming downtown area and the ballfields, playgrounds, picnic areas and swimming pool of Powder Springs Park, Sweetwater Landing is located a short drive from many of Atlanta’s most popular destinations. Sweetwater Landing residents can enjoy making regular excursions to Downtown Atlanta, braving the rollercoasters at Six Flags Over Georgia, hiking Kennesaw Mountain and catching an Atlanta Braves game at SunTrust Park.”

To get to Sweetwater Landing from Atlanta, take I-20 West to GA-6W/Thornton Rd-Exit 44 and follow it for 8.7 miles. The community will be ahead on the right. For GPS users, the address is 4686 Sweetwater Avenue in Powder Springs.
