Awards honor Builder Supporter of the Year, Trade Partner of the Year and Volunteer of the Year
ATLANTA – On Jan. 15, HomeAid Atlanta announced the recipients of its third annual awards for Builder Supporter of the Year, Trade Partner of the Year and Volunteer of the Year. The awards were presented during the Installation and Awards Reception of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association at The Retreat at Dunwoody. The awards honor companies and individuals exhibiting tremendous dedication to HomeAid Atlanta and its efforts to build transitional housing for temporarily homeless children, women and men in metro Atlanta.
The award winners are knowledgeable and passionate about the HomeAid Atlanta mission of building dignified transitional housing where homeless families and individuals can rebuild their lives; are committed to improving Atlanta’s homeless crisis; and have given generously of their time and talents in their respective roles.
“These awards give us the opportunity to highlight some of the many good works being done by members of the local homebuilding industry,” said DuVall Brumby, president of HomeAid Atlanta’s board of directors. “We are pleased to recognize and honor each of these companies for their outstanding service to HomeAid Atlanta and their commitment to making a difference in the lives of homeless families and individuals in the Atlanta area.”
The HomeAid Atlanta Builder Supporter of the Year award is presented to a devoted builder advocate of HomeAid Atlanta. The 2008 Builder Supporter of the Year is Joe Daniels of Dovetail Homes. Daniels, a custom home builder, has participated in HomeAid Atlanta’s annual signature fundraiser, Project Playhouse®, as a playhouse builder for three consecutive years. He is also serving as the builder advisor for a playhouse being built by Georgia Tech students this year. After building The Pirate Ship in 2006, The Braves Clubhouse in 2007 and The Shanty in 2008, Daniels donated each custom crafted playhouse to HomeAid Atlanta to be auctioned or raffled during Project Playhouse®, thereby raising funds to support the organization’s mission. He has demonstrated his commitment to helping HomeAid Atlanta continue to build hope for today’s homeless, serving as an ambassador for the organization throughout the year.
The HomeAid Atlanta Trade Partner of the Year award is presented to an extraordinary non-builder partner in one or more HomeAid Atlanta transitional housing developments. The 2008 Trade Partner of the Year is Parksite, Inc. Since 2004, Parksite has been an active supporter of HomeAid Atlanta. First involved as a corporate sponsor of HomeAid Atlanta, the company’s involvement has grown over the years. Parksite has been a tremendous asset to HomeAid, donating DuPont™ Tyvek® HomeWrap® for several transitional housing developments, as well as for some of the playhouses during HomeAid Atlanta’s signature fundraiser, Project Playhouse®. In addition, when ABC-TV’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition came to a Cherokee County home, Parksite had the HomeAid Atlanta logo printed on the housewrap. The company also hosted a fundraising event with NASCAR’s Jeff Gordon to benefit HomeAid Atlanta in 2005. Parksite has a strong commitment to giving back, which is evident in its dedication to HomeAid Atlanta.
The HomeAid Atlanta Volunteer of the Year award is presented to a group of HomeAid Atlanta’s dedicated volunteers for their outstanding service. The 2008 Volunteer of the Year is Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage. A valuable supporter of HomeAid Atlanta, Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage has served in many different capacities. The Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage CARES Foundation has been a key corporate sponsor of HomeAid Atlanta, as well as a prominent Project Playhouse® sponsor. The company has offered tremendous support during HomeAid Atlanta’s Project Playhouse® by providing devoted volunteers to help staff the Playhouse Village. In addition, the company has served as a partner in the Essentials for Young Lives Drive, assisting in the collection of much needed items for homeless babies. Volunteers from Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage have demonstrated a strong desire to help further the mission of HomeAid Atlanta, always participating with a true spirit of service.
The winners were nominated by the HomeAid Atlanta Board of Directors and staff, and selected based on their commitment to HomeAid Atlanta and its mission.
